Sources and licensing
Everything on this site comes from public-domain or open-licence government data. No paid sources, no scraped third-party aggregators.
USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office)
Trademark application and registration records for the United States. Published daily as XML zip files at bulkdata.uspto.gov.
Licence: public domain (US federal government work, 17 U.S.C. § 105).
The official search interface is at tmsearch.uspto.gov, and the developer documentation for bulk data and the TSDR API is at developer.uspto.gov.
EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office)
EU trademark application and registration records. Published weekly via the EUIPO Open Data Portal at euipo.europa.eu/open-data.
Licence: Creative Commons CC-BY 4.0 - commercial use permitted with attribution to EUIPO.
The official consumer-facing search interface is TMView, which is also operated by EUIPO and federates many national trademark offices beyond the EU.
What we don't use
- TMView federation is a public search service, not a redistributable dataset. We use the underlying office bulk feeds instead.
- WIPO Global Brand Database is for-information-only and not redistributable. Same reason.
- Trademarkia / Markify / CompuMark / Corsearch and similar commercial aggregators are paid services. We don't source from them.
Future additions (v1.5)
- WIPO Madrid Monitor - international trademark filings under the Madrid Protocol. Adds coverage of marks held only outside the US and EU.
- UK IPO - Intellectual Property Office UK trademark register.
- IP Australia - Australian trademark register.
