Terms of use
Last updated 18 May 2026.
By accessing or using this site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the site.
1. About this site
World Trademark Search is a reading layer over the public trademark registers of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), operated by Oliver Wakefield-Smith, a sole trader based in London. This site is not USPTO and not EUIPO. The authoritative records are at tmsearch.uspto.gov and tmview.
Where there is any conflict between information shown here and the official records, the official records prevail.
2. Permitted use
You may:
- Browse, search, and view information on this site without charge
- Link to any page on this site
- Quote and excerpt information shown on this site provided you credit USPTO and EUIPO appropriately and link back to the original sources
You may not:
- Use this site for any purpose that breaches US, UK, or EU law
- Use automated scraping, crawling, or robots to systematically harvest data outside of any export tools we provide. The underlying data is freely available - fetch it from USPTO bulk data or EUIPO Open Data Portal directly under the same licences we use.
- Resell or republish significant portions of the data as your own dataset
- Use the site or its data to harass, intimidate, or invade the privacy of identified individuals beyond what their public role on the register entails
3. No advice, no warranty
This site is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that the information is accurate, complete, up to date, or fit for any particular purpose. USPTO publishes daily and EUIPO weekly; our refresh cadence means our display can be up to a few days behind those offices.
Nothing on this site is legal, IP, due-diligence, or compliance advice. The absence of a similar mark in our search results does not mean a mark is free for you to use. For trademark clearance, instruct a qualified attorney and search the official sources directly.
4. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site operator, its contractors, and contributors are not liable for any loss or damage, direct or indirect, arising from your use of this site or reliance on information shown here, including but not limited to lost profit, lost opportunity, business interruption, or reputational harm.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law.
5. Intellectual property
The underlying trademark data is published by USPTO (public domain) and EUIPO (CC-BY 4.0). You may re-use it under those terms.
The site's code, design, written editorial content (e.g. the explainers at /about, /methodology), data visualisations, derived statistics, and brand are © Oliver Wakefield-Smith. You may quote and reference with attribution, but you may not republish them wholesale.
6. Trademarks and affiliation
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or otherwise connected to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the European Union Intellectual Property Office, WIPO, or the World Trademark Review.
7. Privacy
How we handle visitor data is set out in our privacy notice.
8. Changes
We may change these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will change accordingly.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or your use of this site.
